Summer Camp-3-Session Journey of Building Robots and Sparking Curiosity

This summer, our VEX Robotics camp brought together an enthusiastic group of young engineers for three exciting weeks of building, coding, and discovery. Across three different sessions, a total of 32 students participated in the camp, guided by 10 dedicated teachers, Team 889A members, and passionate high school volunteers. The camp aimed to inspire the next generation to explore the world of robotics and technology.

Each session welcomed elementary, middle, and rising high school students eager to get hands-on with robotics. For many, this was their first experience with VEX Robotics, so we ensured the fundamentals were covered. In the Fundamental Camp, students learned to build their first robots and write simple code to control them. It was thrilling to see their creations come to life, sparking excitement and curiosity.

For more experienced participants, the Advanced Camp provided a deeper challenge. These budding engineers tackled complex projects, focusing on advanced mechanics, problem-solving, and teamwork. It wasn’t just about building robots—it was about fostering creativity, collaboration, and thinking like an engineer.

Our camp’s mission was clear: to ignite curiosity and equip young minds with the tools and encouragement to explore STEM fields. By creating a fun, hands-on environment, we hoped to inspire students to pursue their passions in engineering and technology. Our high school volunteers played an essential role, dedicating their time to ensure every student felt supported and motivated.

A standout moment of the camp was a special guest appearance by Mr. Han Gao, a 3D printing expert. He shared insights into the future of technology and gave an inspiring talk on how 3D printing is revolutionizing industries. It was a fantastic opportunity for campers to broaden their perspectives and see how the skills they’re learning today could shape the future.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this camp possible—the teachers, volunteers, guest speakers, and of course, the students and families who participated. This summer has been unforgettable, and we can’t wait to do it again next year. After all, we’re not just building robots; we’re building the future!
