From Lexington, MA, to Cleveland, OH—two cities, the same endless snowfall. But no amount of snow could cool down our enthusiasm!
This year, three 8889 teams attended the LAUNCH Signature Event in Cleveland, OH. Last year, only 8889A participated, making an impressive run as tournament finalists allied with Boogie Woogie, who held the Skills World Record at the time.
This year, 8889A aimed to continue their legacy, while 8889B and 8889S were determined to make their mark and bring home a trophy of their own.
The LAUNCH Signature Event was hosted by 2011, one of the best VEX clubs in the world. Their teams won the Division Champion title at the 2024 VEX World Championship. Many other world-renowned teams also attended the event, including Overclocked, Boogie Woogie, Full Circle, and Run It Back, etc.. While we were excited to reunite with so many friends at the tournament, in the end, there could only be one winner.
Allied with 2011D Dopamine, 8889A claimed one of the event’s highest honors—Tournament Champion!
Despite a rough start, losing three matches in a row and dropping to #27 in rankings, 8889A fought back by securing the Skills Champion title, earning them the attention of Dopamine for the elimination rounds.
The finals were fiercely contested against powerhouse teams Boogie Woogie and Full Circle. However, with the right strategy and the reliability of their robot, 99% finally became 100%—crowning them Tournament Champions and securing their spot in the 2025 Dallas VEX World Championship!
Additionally, 8889B and 8889S, both attending the LAUNCH Signature Event for the first time, made it into the elimination rounds and walked away with an unforgettable experience!
